Using Free Wi-Fi Access in Our Facilities -
For convenience of our visiting customers, we have deployed free Wi-Fi access to all working areas of colocation floor. This info bulletin will guide you on how to use the Wi-Fi access for your convenience.
Purpose and General Information
- The Wi-Fi network supports both 802.11b and 802.11g clients. Recently, we have begun deploying dual-band radios with 802.11n support. Dual-band support for both 802.11b/g and 802.11n will soon become available in all facilities.
- The primary purpose of our free Wi-Fi coverage is to provide convenience to our customers, allowing them to connect their laptops, smartphones or any other wireless capable device to the internet without having to ask for a physical connection.
- Because of EM shielding and object interference inside data centers, cellular phone signal performance is degraded in certain work areas and colocation floors. The Wi-Fi access serves as a secondary mode of communication for people with access to Voice over IP (VoIP) applications, such as Skype or access to their corporate IP PBX. We have designed our Wi-Fi deployments with careful considerations on roaming to stabilize VoIP traffic while a person is walking from cell to cell during a VoIP telephone call.
