TowardEX Simplified NETworking's Multihoming Jumpstart provides a simple and superior solution for BGP multihoming requirements at unmatched prices.
Customers often seek professional services to get setup with their BGP configuration and spend a great deal of budget for the services. We believe that BGP multihoming should be available to customers of all vertical industries requiring internet redundancy, not just those with comfortable IT budget. Thus, our BGP Multihoming Jumpstart program is tuned specifically for BGP routing, without the professional services overhead. This means it costs us far less to assist our customers, and such cost saving benefits are passed directly to you.
Getting Started with BGP Multihoming
Step 1: Preliminary Requirements
Equipment Needs: In order to multihome, you need a router with sufficient memory (minimum of 256MB RAM) and power to handle a full internet routing table. Our network experts can provide you with recommendations in purchasing the right router that fits your budget.
Two ISPs: To multihome, you will need two ISPs at the minimum. This will ensure that should one ISP go down, other ISP will continue to provide connectivity to your network.
IP Address Space: You will need a minimum of a /24 sized IP subnet to bind to the BGP setup. A /24 subnet provides you with 256 IP addresses, with 253 addresses usable by your hosts (one is used by router). You can easily justify for a /24 space from your ISPs if you let them know that you are trying to do BGP.
Autonomous System Number (ASN): You will also need an ASN from your respective Regional Internet Registry, also known as the RIR. In North America, our RIR is the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN). You will need to apply for an ASN by filling out the request form. If you are unsure, our experts can apply an ASN for your organization and handle all the necessary paperwork for an added fee of $150. If you already have an ASN, then you are all set to move to the next step!
Step 2: Pricing and Evaluation
We will issue a quote with a flat-rate pricing for all setup and one month free support services associated with your BGP configuration turn-up.
Once payment is received and all preliminary requirements are met, our experts will evaluate the setup and confirm with you that everything is ready. You will then schedule a date and time with us to turn up your BGP configuration. We are generally flexible to meet our customer's maintenance window, whether it be day or night. You should let your end-users aware of the scheduled maintenance window.
Step 3: Turn-up and Verification
On the scheduled maintenance, one of our network experts will work with the customer, preferably over the phone and log into customer's router. Customer's router will be configured by our expert to fully enable BGP routing. Once BGP has been turned up, both the customer and TowardEX's representative can test the redundancy by shutting off one of the ISP connections temporarily.
You should be completely multihomed by this point.
Complimentary Products and Moving Forward
A key advantage to a partnership with TowardEX is our ability to maintain long lasting relationships with the customer. To configure additional ISPs into your BGP setup, you can have us set it up at $55 per ISP being added on one router. For additional support and adding redundant routers, we recommend the following complimentary products:
